A Contest
for Middle and High Schoolers
Are
You Ready to Rock? Come experience Guitar Hero -- a guitar simulation
game that has become a
cultural phenomenon.
Round 1
The Guitar Hero contest preliminary rounds for High Schoolers, is
Friday, September 26, 2008, 9:15 PM (or immediately following the football
game which ever is later). The Middle Schoolers prelims are Saturday,
September 27, 2008 at 3PM under the Family Festival Big Top tent.
Rounds 2 & 3 - "Saturday Night In
the Aud"
Final rounds will be held Saturday night, September 27, 2008 in the
McFarland High School auditorium. The Middle School contest will be at
the 6:30 PM show and the High School contest will be at the 8:30 PM
show.
Prizes
The grand prize for the Saturday night contest finals is a $50 check
(one for the Middle School champion and one for the High School
champion). The runners-up will each receive a $25 check from McFarland
Family Festival, Inc.
Summary:
- The contest is open to all McFarland High School and Middle School students.
- The contest will consist of 8 entrants
from the high school and 8 entrants from the middle school whose
applications are received through Thursday, September 25. If more than
eight applications are received, names will be drawn.
- Contestants will be placed into brackets at random, and songs will also
be chosen at random through an audience drawing.
- The contest will
consist of three rounds: medium, hard, and expert. Contestants in the
preliminary brackets move on in the competition by winning at least two
out of the three songs played during each round.
- Round 1 will consist
of 8 people with 4 head-to-head matches. The higher score of each of the
4 matches will continue on to Round 2. In the case of a tie, the winner
will be resolved by highest percentage.
- Round 2 will consist of 4 people
with 2 head-to-head matches. The higher score of each of the 2 matches
will continue on to the Final Round. In the case of a tie, the winner
will be resolved by highest percentage.
- The Final Round will consist of
2 people with one head-to-head match. The highest score of the final 2
contestants will win the Guitar Hero contest. In the case of a tie, the
winner will be resolved by highest percentage.

- All games and guitars will be supplied
at the event and no additional equipment will be allowed at the
competition.
